NEPRA notifies a fuel cost adjustment for September 2026, increasing electricity bills for consumers across Pakistan, including K-Electric customers.
ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity prices by Rs2.3673 per unit under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for September 2026, adding to the electricity bills of consumers across Pakistan.
NEPRA has issued an official notification confirming the increase, which will be reflected in electricity bills for November 2026.
The adjustment has been introduced following a difference between the actual fuel cost of electricity generation and the reference fuel cost determined by the regulator.
According to the notification, the actual fuel cost of electricity generation stood at Rs9.8268 per unit in September, compared with the reference fuel cost of Rs7.4596 per unit. This difference resulted in an additional charge of Rs2.3673 per unit.
The increase will apply to consumers of electricity distribution companies across the country, including K-Electric customers, under the applicable uniform fuel adjustment policy.
However, lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and consumers who have opted for prepaid electricity tariffs will remain exempt from the adjustment.
The additional charge will also apply to consumers benefiting from the Incremental Consumption Package.
The revised adjustment will be calculated according to the electricity units consumed during September 2026 and displayed separately in November electricity bills.
The increase follows a request submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), which had sought an adjustment of Rs2.5624 per unit. NEPRA approved a lower adjustment of Rs2.3673 per unit after reviewing the fuel cost calculations. ایکسپریس اردو+2
The latest increase is expected to add further pressure on household and business budgets as consumers face higher electricity expenses.
