The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched an enforcement operation against unauthorised housing schemes in Islamabad, issuing notices to 126 schemes and sealing the offices of nine developments.
The action was initiated on the orders of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as authorities intensify efforts to address housing projects operating without the required approvals.
The schemes receiving notices include Ghori Town, Rawal Enclave, Razzaq Town, Sadat Town and Madina Enclave. The CDA also sealed offices associated with nine schemes, including Greenfield, Islamabad Farms, Capital Hills and Kiani Town.
The authority’s enforcement measures come amid concerns over housing developments that may be operating without approved layout plans or the necessary permissions. The CDA has published notices relating to the sealing of management offices of several schemes on its official website.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had previously stated that Islamabad had around 150 illegal housing societies. He also indicated that legal cases could be registered against individuals who supported such schemes.
The latest action highlights the regulatory risks facing developers and property buyers in the capital. Housing schemes without the required approvals can expose investors to uncertainty over development, ownership documentation and the legal status of plots.
Prospective buyers are advised to verify a housing scheme’s approval status directly with the relevant authority before purchasing property or making payments. The status of individual schemes should be checked separately, as enforcement notices and office sealing do not, by themselves, establish the legal position of every plot or transaction.
The CDA’s operation is part of a wider effort to enforce planning and development rules in Islamabad. Further action may follow as authorities continue examining housing schemes and their compliance with applicable regulations.
