TEHRAN, IRAN — WEB DESK

Senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye are scheduled to meet Iranian leaders in Tehran on Monday, October 26, for high-level discussions on regional security as tensions across the Middle East continue to rise.

The planned meeting will bring together Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Türkiye’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin. They are expected to hold consultations with Iranian officials, including Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei.

Ali Bagheri Kani, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, announced the planned discussions on Iranian state television. He described the meeting as a potential step towards strengthening regional security and cooperation.

Saudi officials have also confirmed the visit, presenting it as part of efforts by the countries associated with the Mecca Defence Alliance to reduce tensions, encourage dialogue and support diplomatic solutions. The initiative is also intended to complement mediation efforts involving Pakistan and Qatar.

The talks come amid escalating regional instability, including attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia and continued tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel. Saudi air defences have reported intercepting missiles and drones, adding to concerns about the conflict spreading further across the region.

Pakistan has played an intermediary role in diplomatic contacts involving Washington and Tehran. Field Marshal Asim Munir also visited Iran in the previous week, when discussions with Iranian leaders included regional developments and security concerns.

The meeting is significant because it brings senior representatives of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye into direct contact with Iranian officials at a time of heightened regional uncertainty. However, no specific agreement or final outcome had been announced ahead of the scheduled discussions.

The officials are expected to focus on regional coordination, security concerns and diplomatic avenues for reducing the risk of further escalation. The extent to which the meeting can ease tensions will depend on the discussions and any subsequent steps agreed by the participating governments.

Daily Evening News will update this report as confirmed details and official statements from the meeting become available.
