Iran Warns Bahrain, Gulf States Against Allowing Attacks From Their Territory

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — WEB DESK: Iran has issued a fresh warning to Bahrain and other countries in the region against allowing their territory, military bases or airspace to be used for attacks on the Islamic Republic, saying Tehran would respond if such actions were permitted again.

The warning was delivered by Ali Karimi Magham, second secretary at Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, during a meeting of the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee.

His remarks came in response to statements from Bahrain’s representative concerning human rights and recent regional developments.

The Iranian diplomat rejected Bahrain’s portrayal of itself as a victim of the regional conflict and accused Manama of previously making its territory, military facilities and airspace available for US military operations against Iran.

He argued that a country allowing its territory to be used in military action against a neighbouring state could not subsequently ignore the consequences of that decision.

Karimi Magham maintained that Iran had not initiated the conflict and characterised Tehran’s previous military actions as an exercise of its right to respond after coming under attack.

He then issued a direct warning to Bahrain and other regional governments against facilitating future military operations targeting Iran.

Tehran’s latest statement comes amid heightened concern over the role of US military installations across the Gulf as tensions involving Iran, Washington and their regional partners continue.

Bahrain hosts significant US military assets and has itself accused Iran of carrying out attacks against its territory during the conflict.

The two governments therefore present sharply conflicting accounts of responsibility for the escalation.

Bahrain has formally raised Iranian attacks at the United Nations, describing them as violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Iran, meanwhile, argues that military activity from Gulf territory against the Islamic Republic makes host countries responsible for facilitating attacks and potentially exposes them to retaliation.

The latest warning is consistent with a broader message issued by Tehran to neighbouring governments in recent days.

Iranian officials have cautioned regional countries against allowing their territory or military installations to be used in any future US or Israeli operation against Iran.

Regional tensions remain elevated as diplomatic efforts continue alongside military preparations and concerns over security in the Gulf.

The dispute carries particular significance because several Gulf states host American military facilities while also seeking to prevent the wider conflict from spreading further across the region.

Iran’s warning signals that the use of those facilities in any renewed attack could become a central factor in Tehran’s calculations over future retaliation.
