Gold Price Drops Rs3,800 Per Tola in Pakistan, Silver Also Falls

KARACHI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Gold and silver prices declined in Pakistan on Monday, September 14, tracking a fall in international bullion markets and bringing some relief to domestic buyers after recent volatility.

According to rates reported by Express Urdu, the international price of gold fell $38 per ounce, settling at $4,308 per ounce on Monday.

The decline in the global market was reflected in Pakistan’s local bullion markets, where the price of gold fell by Rs3,800 per tola to Rs453,336.

The price of 10 grams of gold also dropped by Rs3,258, bringing the new rate to Rs388,662.

Silver prices followed the downward trend. In the international market, silver fell to $63.23 per ounce, according to the report.

In Pakistan, silver declined by Rs122 per tola to Rs6,802, while the price of 10 grams fell by Rs105 to Rs5,831.

The latest decline follows considerable volatility in Pakistan’s precious-metals market. On Saturday, September 12, gold had gained Rs400 to reach Rs457,136 per tola, while silver increased Rs53 to Rs6,924 per tola, according to rates reported by Business Recorder.

Gold had recorded a much sharper decline a day earlier. On September 11, the precious metal fell Rs5,600 per tola to Rs456,736 as the international rate declined by $56 to $4,342 an ounce.

Monday’s Rs3,800 decline therefore puts the domestic gold price at its lowest reported level since the end of last week.

Precious-metal prices in Pakistan generally respond to movements in international bullion markets as well as domestic currency conditions. Buyers and investors should note that quoted bullion rates can change during the trading day.
