Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir and Somalia’s Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi agree to strengthen bilateral defence ties, counterterrorism cooperation and military training, ISPR says.
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held talks with Somalia’s Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, focusing on expanding bilateral defence, security and counterterrorism cooperation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the ISPR, the meeting reviewed the longstanding relations between Pakistan and Somalia and explored ways to deepen military collaboration in areas of mutual interest. The two sides discussed enhancing defence cooperation, military training, capacity building and the exchange of professional expertise to address evolving regional security challenges.
The discussions also covered counterterrorism cooperation, with both sides reaffirming the importance of coordinated efforts to combat terrorism and promote regional peace and stability. They emphasized strengthening institutional links between the armed forces of the two countries through regular engagement and cooperation.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting friendly nations through defence diplomacy, training initiatives and the sharing of professional military experience. The Somali delegation appreciated Pakistan’s continued support and expressed interest in further expanding bilateral defence ties.
The meeting reflects the growing defence relationship between Pakistan and Somalia, as both countries seek to enhance cooperation in security, military training and regional stability through closer institutional engagement.
