Buttler scored a brilliant 51-run innings, including six sixes, to guide Manchester Super Giants to victory after three consecutive losses. He surpassed Pollard’s record of 14,803 runs with his first six off Marco Jansen’s delivery.

Pollard will have an opportunity to reclaim the top spot when he represents Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League. The Hundred statistics count towards official T20 records, making Buttler’s achievement part of his overall T20 career.
Speaking after the match, Buttler said it was a matter of pride to become the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket.
