TEL AVIV – Web Desk: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has acknowledged differences with US President Donald Trump regarding the recent Gaza agreement, insisting that reconstruction is impossible until Hamas is disarmed and Gaza is fully demilitarized.
Netanyahu made the statement following his meeting with Trump’s Board of Peace envoy Nikolay Mladenov, according to international media reports. The Israeli PM said he does not hide his disagreements with Trump on the Gaza deal, stating that Israel’s position is clear: Hamas must lay down its weapons and Gaza must be completely demilitarized.
Netanyahu said that until these conditions are met, reconstruction and long-term stability efforts cannot be effective. He emphasized that Israel will not compromise on national security, which must be the top priority in any future political or diplomatic agreement.
The statement comes as the Trump administration continues diplomatic efforts to maintain the Gaza ceasefire and reduce tensions in the region. Political analysts say the remarks reveal that differences remain between Washington and Tel Aviv on key aspects of Gaza’s future, Hamas’s role, and reconstruction — which could impact future negotiations.
