Washington, United States – Web Desk: The United States military claims it struck 170 Iranian targets over a two-day period, including sites along Iran’s coastline, as part of a large-scale operation aimed at reducing Tehran’s military capabilities.
According to The New York Times, citing officials from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes targeted air defense systems, coastal surveillance facilities, missile and drone storage sites, and naval military assets across multiple locations.
The report quoted US military officials as saying the primary objective of the operation was to degrade Iran’s ability to launch attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes for global energy supplies.
The reported operation comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with security concerns growing over freedom of navigation and regional stability in the Gulf.
