Hezbollah Rejects Israel-Lebanon Deal, Warns of Civil War

Date:

Beirut, Lebanon – Web Desk: Hezbollah has strongly rejected the trilateral framework agreement signed by the United States, Israel, and Lebanon in Washington on Friday, warning that any attempt to enforce the accord could plunge the country into civil war .

The agreement, signed by Lebanese Ambassador Nada Moawad and her Israeli counterpart Yechiel Leiter at the State Department, aims to establish a “framework for lasting peace and security” by restoring Lebanese state sovereignty, disarming non-state armed groups, and enabling the progressive redeployment of Israeli forces . The framework explicitly calls for the “complete and verified disarmament of all non-state armed groups” across Lebanon, without naming Hezbollah directly .

Hezbollah, which was not party to the negotiations, has dismissed the agreement as an attempt to “disrupt the Islamabad path” of Iran-US talks . MP Hassan Fadlallah, a member of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, warned that Lebanese authorities would be unable to enforce the agreement “unless they go, with American support, to civil war” . He declared that Hezbollah would not accept the agreement, would not give up its weapons, and would confront any measure taken against it .

The agreement establishes a process for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) to assume control over two designated pilot zones, enabling a phased Israeli redeployment . The United States has pledged $100 million in humanitarian assistance and additional support for the LAF .

Hezbollah supporters took to the streets of Beirut to protest the agreement, blocking roads and chanting slogans before being dispersed by Lebanese army personnel . The group’s position reflects its long-standing opposition to disarmament proposals, insisting that its weapons are essential to defending Lebanon .
