Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: Iran has signed a deal with Russia to purchase 20 helicopters, in an agreement aimed at strengthening its emergency response and logistics capabilities, according to Iranian officials.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Iranian Red Crescent Society and a Russian aviation company at its headquarters in Moscow.
The agreement was concluded between Iranian Red Crescent President Iranian Red Crescent Society and Russian Helicopters CEO Nikolai Kolesov, Iranian state media reported.
Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Pirhossein Kolivand said the deal involves the direct purchase of 20 helicopters to enhance Iran’s logistical and aerial rescue fleet. He described the agreement as a significant milestone in the organization’s operational history.
He added that an initial batch of four helicopters has already been finalized, with deliveries expected by March 2027 ahead of the Iranian New Year (Nowruz).
According to officials, the helicopters will be equipped with advanced technology, including night-vision systems, and will be used for firefighting, medical evacuation, and emergency rescue operations.
The agreement underscores expanding technical cooperation between Iran and Russia amid broader regional and geopolitical developments.
