Iran Warns US: Continued Israeli Occupation in Lebanon Could Jeopardize Deal

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stark warning that continued Israeli military presence or occupation in Lebanon would be considered a violation of the recently signed Iran-US memorandum of understanding.

Speaking to diplomats in Tehran, Araghchi made it clear that the conflicts in Iran and Lebanon are intrinsically linked, emphasizing that any new Israeli aggression against Lebanon would be “unacceptable” and would not be tolerated under the terms of the agreement.

“Iran will not accept the continuation of Israeli occupation in Lebanon. This would be contrary to the spirit of our understanding with the United States,” Araghchi stated, adding that the purpose of the rapprochement is to end tensions across the region and establish peace on all fronts.

The Foreign Minister confirmed that the formal announcement ending the war was made Monday morning Tehran time, immediately after the agreement was finalized. He further disclosed that the memorandum of understanding will officially come into effect on Friday.

Araghchi expressed hope that the implementation of the agreement would bring stability to the region. He stressed, however, that all parties must honor their commitments and refrain from any actions that could undermine the peace process. “Lebanon is an integral part of this process,” he declared, reinforcing Tehran’s position that stability must be achieved across all regional flashpoints.
