Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has said that commercial shipping and oil tanker traffic have resumed through the Strait of Hormuz following an agreement reached with Iran, describing the vital maritime route as secure and fully operational.
According to international media reports, Trump stated that numerous oil-laden vessels are once again transiting the strategic waterway, a key corridor for global energy supplies.
The U.S. president said the ships are traveling through what he described as the “Southern Highway,” which he claimed is safe, calm, and functioning normally. He also suggested that alternative shipping routes exist but did not provide further details.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Trump said the agreement would allow Iran to maintain a peaceful civilian nuclear program while imposing strict and long-term restrictions on any military-related nuclear activities.
He added that negotiators are discussing several options regarding Iran’s uranium enrichment program, including limits or suspensions ranging from 15 to 20 years. Trump said he could support a 15-year arrangement if enrichment levels remain strictly below any threshold that could be used for military purposes.
Trump emphasized that a key objective of the agreement is to guarantee complete freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring that no fees, tolls, or restrictions are imposed on international shipping.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump congratulated all parties involved in the ceasefire efforts and declared that the agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran was complete.
The latest developments indicate progress toward a new diplomatic framework between Washington and Tehran after decades of tensions. However, several major issues, including uranium enrichment limits, the return of frozen assets, compensation claims, and the long-term status of the Strait of Hormuz, are expected to remain subjects of further negotiations.
