ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that while politics may be divided, Pakistan belongs to everyone, and strengthening the country is a shared responsibility of all, during his address to the National Assembly.
The National Assembly session, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, saw low attendance with only 52 members present against the required quorum of 84. Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai initiated the budget debate, referencing various political events from the country’s history. The Speaker expressed anger over an incident involving Iqbal Afridi, stating that if he cannot provide security to people, he has no right to sit in the House.
The Prime Minister said he had listened carefully to Achakzai’s speech but would respond in detail at an appropriate time. He emphasized that all political forces must work together for Pakistan’s development, stability, and prosperity. He also engaged with PTI member Sanaullah Mastikhel, stating he knows Mastikhel is constrained otherwise he would join them.
The PM affirmed that provinces’ rights to their resources are an established reality, citing the 2010 NFC Award where Balochistan’s share was increased by 100 percent. He highlighted that Rs 75 billion was spent providing solar panels to Balochistan’s farmers, and approximately Rs 300 billion is being spent on converting the Gwadar-Chaman highway into a dual carriageway.
