Washington, United States – Web Desk: Iranian state media has reported that the United States has refused to issue visas to 15 members of Iran’s football delegation for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According to reports cited by British media, while US authorities have issued visas to Iranian players and technical staff, several key administrative and management officials have been denied entry documents.
Those affected reportedly include Iran Football Federation president Mehdi Taj, the team manager, media officer, as well as members responsible for security and foreign ministry coordination. Iranian officials say these individuals play a critical role in team operations and have urged FIFA to intervene.
Earlier, US officials confirmed that Iranian players and essential support staff would be allowed to enter the country for the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Iranian national team has already traveled to Mexico for preparations ahead of the tournament. Iran will face New Zealand in their opening World Cup match on June 15 in Los Angeles, where they are also scheduled to play Belgium in the group stage.
