KATHMANDU – Web Desk: A new record has been set on Mount Everest, with 274 climbers successfully scaling the world’s highest peak in a single day, according to officials.

Favorable weather conditions have led to a rush on Everest, with Nepal having issued 500 climbing permits for the current season. On May 21, 274 climbers summited Mount Everest, establishing a new record. The previous record for successful summits in one day on Everest was 223 climbers, set in 2019.

This season, 56-year-old Kami Rita Sherpa improved his own world record by scaling Everest for the 32nd time, while 52-year-old Lakpa Sherpa set a new women’s record by summiting Everest for the 11th time. Additionally, Russian climber Rustam Nabiev, who lost both legs, conquered Mount Everest using only his arms.
