UNITED NATIONS – Web Desk: Afghanistan’s acting envoy to the United Nations, Naseer Ahmad Faisq, has strongly criticized the Taliban regime, labeling it as terrorist, illegal, and anti-people, while categorically rejecting its claim to Afghanistan’s UN seat.
In a post on X, Faisq stated that representation at the UN is the constitutional and legitimate right of governments that come to power based on public aspirations. According to Faisq, over the past five years, the Taliban regime has neither addressed the legitimate demands of the Afghan people nor shown regard for the international community. He said that through their patronage and support of international terrorist groups, the security situation in Afghanistan and the region has further deteriorated.
Faisq stated that there is no legitimate national system in Afghanistan, and corruption, unemployment, targeted killings, and terrorism have reached their highest levels. He questioned on what basis the Taliban regime is demanding a seat at the United Nations.
According to experts, this strong reaction from the Afghan envoy reflects the international community’s persistent lack of confidence and serious concerns over the Taliban’s governance. The Taliban’s obstinacy has left Afghanistan stranded at a complex crossroads of global isolation, economic crisis, and humanitarian challenges.
