Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A report by the Wall Street Journal has claimed that the United Arab Emirates may have played a covert role in recent hostilities involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, further intensifying regional tensions in the Middle East.
According to the report, unnamed sources alleged that the UAE carried out or supported covert strikes inside Iran during the ongoing conflict, targeting key energy infrastructure. One alleged incident involved an attack on an oil refinery on Iran’s Lavan Island, which reportedly caused a major fire and temporary shutdown.
The report further claims the operation took place in early April, at a time when former US President Donald Trump was preparing to announce a potential ceasefire initiative with Iran.
Citing sources, the Wall Street Journal suggested that Washington privately welcomed the UAE’s reported involvement, although no official confirmation has been issued by the US government.
In response, Iran reportedly carried out retaliatory strikes using ballistic missiles and drones targeting UAE and Kuwait, with sources claiming that the UAE was the most frequently targeted country, with thousands of reported attacks.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not directly address the allegations but reiterated that the country reserves the right to defend its security and respond to any threats.
The report comes amid escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, which continue to dominate global geopolitical concerns.
