Hezbollah Drone Attack Kills Israeli Soldier, 3 Injured

Date:

Beirut, Lebanon – Web Desk: An Israeli soldier was killed and three others were seriously injured in a drone attack carried out by Hezbollah near the Lebanon–Israel border, according to the Israeli military.

The Israeli army confirmed that the attack involved explosive-laden drones launched toward the Manara area close to the northern frontier. One of the drones reportedly struck directly inside Israeli territory, resulting in the fatality.

The soldier killed was identified as 47-year-old Warrant Officer (Res.) Alexander Glovanov, who served as a driver in the 6924th Transport Battalion, military officials said.

According to the army statement, multiple drones were fired during the attack, with at least one successfully hitting its target and causing casualties among Israeli troops stationed near the border.

The military also reported that three additional soldiers sustained injuries in a separate drone strike earlier in the week. The injured personnel were evacuated to hospital, and their families have been informed.

Officials added that an Israeli Air Force helicopter deployed for evacuation purposes experienced a technical malfunction and was temporarily grounded in southern Lebanon. A second helicopter was later dispatched to complete the evacuation.

The army clarified that the helicopter was not hit by enemy fire and that the incident was purely technical.

Since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon in April, cross-border hostilities have continued intermittently. Israeli military sources say at least five soldiers have been killed in southern Lebanon since the ceasefire, while dozens have been wounded.

Tensions remain high along the northern border as drone and rocket attacks continue amid ongoing regional instability.
