Venafro, Italy – Web Desk: American tennis player Tristan Boyer was involved in a heated on-court incident during a Challenger tournament in Italy after losing control during his match against young opponent Daniel Rapañeta.
The incident took place at the Francavilla al Mare Open, where Boyer fell behind 6–5 in the first set. Following the setback, he reportedly lost his composure, repeatedly smashing his racket on the court despite receiving a warning from the chair umpire.
As tensions escalated, the umpire awarded a game to his opponent as a disciplinary measure, effectively bringing the match to an early conclusion.
Boyer then directed his frustration toward the official, verbally abusing the chair umpire and striking the umpire’s chair with his racket. Although the official was not injured, the situation further escalated as the player continued damaging his equipment before leaving the court.
This is not the first time Boyer has shown on-court frustration, as he has previously been involved in similar incidents during tournaments, including at the San Diego Open.
The episode has once again raised concerns about player conduct and discipline in professional tennis events.
