Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest proposals in ongoing ceasefire negotiations, raising doubts about the prospects for a breakthrough.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the United States is continuing discussions with Iran via telephone but warned that progress remains limited. “I’m not satisfied with the new proposals,” he said, adding that Iran appears eager to reach a deal.
Trump also criticized Iran’s leadership, describing it as divided and inconsistent. “Different people are saying different things. The leadership seems confused,” he said, suggesting internal divisions are complicating negotiations.
Despite ongoing diplomatic engagement, Trump said he was uncertain whether talks would yield a meaningful outcome. “We’re talking, but things are not moving forward,” he added, outlining two possible paths: a negotiated agreement or further escalation.
Reiterating his long-standing position, Trump said he does not want Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, warning that such a development would increase global security risks. He also claimed that US military operations had significantly weakened Iran’s naval and air capabilities.
During the briefing, Trump also expressed respect for Pakistan’s leadership, including the prime minister and military leadership, highlighting Islamabad’s role in regional diplomacy.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with ceasefire efforts continuing but no clear path yet to a comprehensive peace agreement.
