Bajaur, Pakistan – Web Desk: Suspected militants carried out a drone-assisted attack on a ground in Bajaur, injuring three civilians, security officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Shahi Tangi area of Mamond tehsil, where attackers allegedly used a quadcopter to target people gathered during a local cricket match. The injured were shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Officials said the attack appeared to be deliberately timed to coincide with a public gathering, raising concerns about the increasing use of drone-based tactics by militant groups in the region.
Separately, the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur reported that cross-border shelling from Afghanistan during March and April 2026 affected several مناطق, particularly Mamond and Salarzai.
According to authorities, the shelling resulted in the deaths of nine civilians, including three women and six children, highlighting the ongoing security challenges along the border.
Security analysts said such attacks indicate a shift in militant strategy, targeting unarmed civilians instead of engaging directly with security forces.
Officials added that Pakistan Armed Forces are responding to these threats and continuing operations against militant positions and support networks.
