Ceasefire Holds as Pakistan Diplomacy Eases Iran-US Tensions

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The ongoing ceasefire between Iran and the United States is increasingly being viewed as a result of Pakistan’s active diplomatic engagement, as tensions in the Middle East enter a critical phase.

According to diplomatic sources, while indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States have not yet produced a comprehensive breakthrough, both sides have reached a broad understanding on reducing tensions and maintaining the ceasefire.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has indicated that Tehran has proposed a workable framework aimed at a permanent resolution to the conflict. However, he stressed that its success depends on whether Washington takes concrete and serious steps.

Pakistan has played a key mediating role in this process, with sustained high-level contacts and continuous diplomatic efforts helping to facilitate trust-building between the two sides. Officials say these efforts have contributed to extending the ceasefire, which is now being described as a significant diplomatic achievement.

Sources added that Islamabad helped create space for dialogue and de-escalation, with Araghchi’s recent visit to Pakistan seen as a crucial step in coordinating regional peace efforts and reducing tensions.

Meanwhile, the anticipated visit of a U.S. delegation to Pakistan has been cancelled, a development being described in diplomatic circles as notable. Analysts suggest the situation presents a fresh diplomatic challenge for U.S. President Donald Trump, as the future of lasting peace will depend on the next steps taken by both Tehran and Washington.
