Iran Says Talks Possible If US Lifts Port Blockade

Date:

New York, United States – Web Desk: Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid, has said that a new round of negotiations with the United States could take place in Islamabad once Washington lifts its naval blockade on Iranian ports.

Speaking to media at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the envoy stated that the removal of the blockade would create conditions conducive to dialogue, paving the way for renewed diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington.

According to Iranian state media, the envoy indicated that Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, is being considered as the venue for the next phase of talks, reflecting Islamabad’s growing role as a mediator in regional tensions.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump recently announced an extension of the ongoing ceasefire with Iran, stating that it would remain in place until Tehran presents a concrete proposal aimed at resolving the conflict.

However, Trump also made it clear that the US would continue its naval blockade of Iranian ports, a move that remains a key sticking point in efforts to restart negotiations.

Analysts say recent statements from both sides suggest that while differences remain, there are still prospects for diplomacy if certain preconditions are met, particularly regarding sanctions and maritime restrictions.

Pakistan’s involvement in facilitating dialogue between the two sides has drawn international attention, as efforts continue to prevent further escalation in the region.
