Washington, United States – Web Desk: The White House has confirmed that US President Donald Trump has been briefed on Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appeal regarding the ongoing Middle East crisis, with a response expected in the near future.
Speaking to US media, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump is fully aware of the request made by Prime Minister Sharif and will respond shortly.
The development comes after Sharif urged Washington to extend the current deadline by two weeks to allow diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict to progress. He also called on Iran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz for the same period as a goodwill gesture.
Meanwhile, senior Iranian officials have indicated that Tehran is reviewing the Pakistani premier’s request, signaling potential diplomatic engagement on the issue.
In his earlier statement on social media platform X, Sharif said diplomatic initiatives were advancing rapidly and expressed optimism that concrete outcomes could emerge soon. He emphasized the importance of giving diplomacy sufficient time to succeed and reduce regional tensions.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global oil transit route, making its status central to international markets and geopolitical stability.
