Istanbul, Turkey – Web Desk: A shootout near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul left three suspected attackers dead and two police officers injured, according to Turkish media and security officials.
Authorities said gunfire erupted suddenly near the diplomatic facility, prompting an immediate response from security forces. Police engaged the suspects in an exchange of fire, resulting in the deaths of all three individuals.
Two police officers were wounded during the operation and were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their condition has not been officially disclosed.
Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a search and clearance operation, while investigators work to determine the motive behind the incident.
