US, Israel Strike Key Iranian Petrochemical Facilities

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk:
The United States and Israel have carried out strikes on key petrochemical facilities in southern Iran, according to Iranian officials, marking a further escalation in regional tensions.

Local authorities in Khuzestan Province confirmed that the Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex was targeted in the attack. A senior security official, Valiollah Hayati, deputy governor for security affairs, said the strikes were carried out by U.S. and Israeli forces.

Hayati added that the Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company was also hit. Iranian sources reported that at least five people were injured in the attacks.

Both facilities are considered vital components of Iran’s petrochemical industry, processing oil and gas derivatives and playing a significant role in exports via the Persian Gulf.

In a statement, the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization said workers in the industrial area had been safely evacuated. It also noted that any potentially hazardous emissions posed no immediate threat to nearby cities.

The strikes follow earlier claims by the Israel Defense Forces that it had completed a wave of attacks targeting what it described as “infrastructure sites of the Iranian regime” in Tehran.

The latest developments underscore rising military confrontation in the Middle East, increasing concerns over energy security and regional stability.
