Trump Says Iran Wants Deal, Talks Underway With Progress Expected

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that negotiations with Iran are ongoing and expressed confidence that the talks would eventually produce results.

Speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said Iran “wants a deal” and confirmed that discussions between the two sides are continuing.

“Our military has done an excellent job. Iran wants a deal, and the process of talks is underway. We are negotiating, and there will be some outcome,” Trump said.

The US president also referred to the recently launched “Midnight Hammer” operation, claiming that Iran continued work on its nuclear capabilities even after the operation.

Trump said that if Iran had obtained nuclear weapons capability, it could have posed a direct threat to Israel and wider regional stability.

He further claimed that Iran had carried out missile strikes targeting Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, while reiterating Washington’s position that it is working to eliminate what he described as the Iranian regime’s threat in the Middle East.

Trump also praised regional allies, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, saying they had provided strong support.

Separately, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington could achieve its objectives in Iran without deploying ground troops and that the conflict may end in weeks rather than months.

Speaking after the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in France, Rubio said keeping the Strait of Hormuz open remains an “immediate challenge.”
