Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Web Desk: Saudi Arabia’s air defense forces have intercepted and destroyed 30 drones targeting the Eastern Province, according to official security sources, amid heightened regional tensions.
Authorities said the latest attempt comes as the broader regional crisis linked to Iran enters its 25th day of escalation.
Officials also confirmed that an earlier attempt to target the capital Riyadh involved the launch of three ballistic missiles. Saudi defense systems successfully intercepted one missile in the air, while the remaining two fell in unpopulated areas, with no major casualties reported.
In a separate incident, seven additional drones were also shot down over the Eastern Province, according to the statement.
Saudi authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting national sovereignty and critical infrastructure, stating that any threat to the kingdom’s airspace and civilians will be met with immediate defensive action.
The government emphasized that it reserves the full right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and will continue measures to safeguard regional stability.
