Iran Missile and Drone Strikes Escalate Gulf Tensions

Date:

Doha / Dubai – Web Desk: Iran has intensified missile and drone attacks on Gulf countries amid its ongoing war with the United States and Israel, heightening regional tensions across the Arabian Peninsula.

According to reports, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain claimed to have intercepted multiple missiles and drones in recent hours. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense confirmed a missile was destroyed mid-air, while Kuwait’s National Guard downed a drone.

In the United Arab Emirates, air defense systems were activated after explosions were reported in Dubai and other areas, with officials clarifying that the sounds were due to defensive actions. Saudi authorities also reported destroying a drone over the eastern region, while Bahrain stated that hundreds of missiles and drones have been successfully neutralized since the conflict began.

Experts warn that Iran has launched hundreds of missiles and drones toward Gulf nations since the start of the conflict on February 28, with the UAE frequently targeted. The attacks have caused casualties and significant disruptions to regional economies, including energy production, aviation, and tourism.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has sharply reduced daily oil production in the Middle East from 21 million barrels to around 14 million barrels, creating additional pressure on global markets.

The ongoing escalation underscores the fragile security situation in the Gulf, with analysts warning of broader geopolitical and economic ramifications if the attacks continue.
