Khawaja Asif Slams Afghan Taliban Over “False Allegations”

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly rejected what he described as “false and baseless allegations” by the Afghan Taliban authorities against Pakistan.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Asif said that those responsible for attacks on schoolchildren and worshippers were capable of targeting hospital patients and then blaming Pakistan to gain international sympathy.

His remarks come amid heightened tensions following Pakistan’s recent military operation, referred to as “Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq,” targeting alleged militant infrastructure in Afghanistan.

Earlier, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, speaking on a television program, said the Afghan Taliban must decide whether they stand with “terrorists or with Pakistan.” He added that terrorist networks operating in Pakistan have links traced back to Afghanistan.

Tarar also rejected claims that a hospital had been targeted, calling it a “false narrative.” He said the site struck contained ammunition, and subsequent explosions were evidence of militant presence.

Pakistan’s military reportedly carried out airstrikes in Kabul and Nangarhar, destroying ammunition depots and technical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry had earlier claimed that hundreds of people were killed in an ആക്രമation on a rehabilitation center for drug users—an assertion Pakistani officials have dismissed as inaccurate.

The exchange of statements reflects rising diplomatic and security tensions between the two neighboring countries.
