US Aircraft Carrier USS Gerald R. Ford Heads Back to Port

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: A United States aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, has reportedly begun returning to port after operating near Iran amid rising regional tensions, according to US media reports.

The development follows earlier reports of a fire aboard the carrier, which allegedly broke out in the ship’s main laundry area. It took more than 30 hours to bring the blaze under control, according to a US newspaper.

Two US service members were reportedly injured in the incident, though the vessel’s engines were not damaged. The fire also displaced more than 600 personnel from their sleeping quarters.

The United States Navy carrier, which has a crew of approximately 4,500 personnel, had previously been deployed closer to Iran as part of heightened military activity in the region.

There has been no official confirmation from US authorities regarding the carrier’s withdrawal or operational status. The reports come amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with increased military deployments and security concerns.
