US KC-135 Refueling Aircraft Crashes During Iraq Operation

A US aerial refueling aircraft crashed during a military operation in western Iraq, marking a significant setback for the United States Air Force amid ongoing regional tensions.

According to a statement from United States Central Command, a KC‑135 Stratotanker was involved in an accident while participating in Operation Epic Fury.

Military officials said the incident occurred in friendly airspace, and rescue operations were launched immediately following the crash.

Authorities confirmed that two aircraft were involved in the operation at the time of the incident. One aircraft crashed in western Iraq, while the second aircraft was able to land safely.

Officials added that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash and gather further details about the incident.

The KC-135 Stratotanker is a critical component of US air operations, providing mid-air refueling capabilities for fighter jets and other military aircraft during combat missions.
