Strait of Hormuz: 13 Ships Targeted Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

Date:

London, UK – Web Desk: Maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding Middle East waters has come under increased pressure, with at least 13 commercial vessels attacked since the outbreak of the regional conflict, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incidents include three ships struck by unknown projectiles, one of which occurred in northern Oman waters, causing damage to the vessel. Rescue operations safely evacuated all crew members. In addition, four suspicious maritime activities have been reported, bringing the total number of incidents in the Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman to 17.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global shipping lane, carrying a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas. These attacks have raised concerns among shipping companies and security agencies, prompting them to advise vessels to take precautionary measures and consider alternative routes to ensure safety.

The UKMTO continues to monitor developments closely, emphasizing the need for vigilance in this volatile maritime region.
