Madrid, Spain – Web Desk: Spain has firmly rejected claims by the White House that it had agreed to assist the U.S. military in operations against Iran. The dispute arises amid heightened tensions after U.S. threats to impose sanctions on Spain if it refused access to military bases.
White House spokesperson Karine Leavitt had claimed during a briefing that Spain had consented to cooperate with U.S. military missions targeting Iran. However, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares clarified in a local radio interview that Spain’s stance remains unchanged: the country will not participate in any war against Iran.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez echoed this position in a televised address, stating that Spain will not engage in actions harmful to global stability or contrary to national values, regardless of potential repercussions.
