Khawaja Asif Warns of ‘Open War’ Amid Tensions

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning amid rising regional tensions, declaring that Pakistan would respond decisively to any aggression.

In a statement posted on social media, Asif said Pakistan’s armed forces were fully prepared to counter what he described as proxy actions and cross-border hostility. “Our patience has reached its limit. Now it will be an open confrontation,” he wrote, adding that Pakistan’s military was not a foreign force but one rooted in the nation and fully aware of regional realities.

The defence minister alleged that following the withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan, there had been expectations within the international community that stability would follow. However, he criticised the Afghan Taliban leadership, accusing it of failing to ensure peace and of allowing militant elements to operate from Afghan soil.

Asif further claimed that extremist groups had regrouped in the region and that Pakistan had become a target of aggression. He asserted that when confronted with attacks, Pakistan’s armed forces delivered a “strong and effective response.”

The remarks come amid heightened security concerns and renewed debate over cross-border militancy, regional security cooperation, and Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.

No immediate response was issued by Afghan authorities regarding the minister’s comments.
