Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has voiced support for Iran and offered to play a constructive role in resolving escalating tensions with the United States, urging all parties to exercise restraint and pursue dialogue.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China said Beijing is closely monitoring developments involving Iran amid growing pressure from the United States over nuclear negotiations.
The spokesperson stated that China supports Iran in safeguarding its legitimate rights, national interests and stability. Beijing reiterated its long-standing position that disputes should be resolved through political and diplomatic channels and firmly opposes threats or the use of force in international relations.
The remarks come after Washington increased military deployments in the region in an effort to pressure Tehran into nuclear talks. The United States has reportedly deployed one of its largest naval fleets to the region, while aircraft stationed at a U.S. air base in Portugal have also repositioned closer to Iran. Another naval fleet remains in the Pacific.
U.S. President Donald Trump previously warned that Iran could face significant military action if it failed to respond positively to nuclear negotiations within a specified timeframe.
Meanwhile, Israel has cautioned Lebanon against allowing Hezbollah to join any potential conflict in support of Iran, warning of serious consequences.
China said it is prepared, as a responsible global power, to play a constructive role in de-escalating tensions and facilitating dialogue.
