Iran Offers to Mediate Pakistan-Afghanistan Talks

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has offered to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan amid rising border tensions, urging both sides to resolve differences through dialogue and good neighbourly relations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on Kabul and Islamabad to prioritise negotiations, stressing that disputes should be addressed through constructive engagement.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Araghchi said the holy month of Ramadan symbolises patience, tolerance and Islamic unity, and provides an opportunity for both countries to de-escalate tensions. He emphasised that dialogue and mutual understanding were essential to maintaining regional stability.

The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran was ready to facilitate constructive talks between Kabul and Islamabad and to support efforts aimed at strengthening mutual trust and cooperation.

The statement comes at a time of heightened concern over cross-border incidents and security challenges in the region, which have strained Pakistan-Afghanistan relations in recent weeks.

Iran’s offer of mediation underscores broader regional efforts to prevent further escalation and promote stability through diplomatic channels.
