PTI Seeks Swift Hearings for Imran Khan Cases After Multiple Court Visits

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, stated that party representatives have approached the judiciary 17 times in the past year at the Islamabad High Court and 14 times at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, urging that cases related to PTI founder Imran Khan be scheduled and heard without further delay.

Speaking to media outside the Supreme Court, Barrister Gohar said parliamentarians will visit the Islamabad High Court at 12 noon the following day to press their demand for timely hearings.

He reiterated that the party’s primary request remains the immediate scheduling of Imran Khan’s pending cases. PTI has also filed applications in the Supreme Court seeking access for lawyers, family members, and medical professionals to meet the former prime minister, along with a separate petition concerning his medical treatment.

Barrister Gohar revealed that senior lawyer Latif Khosa submitted the application to the Supreme Court registrar via post, and the registrar’s office acknowledged receipt, indicating that the request would be processed.

According to PTI’s chairman, key cases including the Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana II matters remain unresolved in the Islamabad High Court. He noted that the Al-Qadir case resulted in a conviction on January 17, 2025, yet judicial policy suggests verdicts should be delivered within 35 to 60 days. More than a year has passed without hearings being scheduled.

He further highlighted that cases involving Bushra Bibi also remain pending. Earlier in the day, provincial leadership reportedly requested the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice to schedule hearings, but the appeal did not receive a positive response.

Barrister Gohar added that the court registrar’s office later indicated the case would be placed on the schedule for hearing the next day.

The PTI leadership continues to emphasise the need for judicial transparency and timely adjudication of pending matters as part of its broader legal strategy.
