Isfahan, Iran – Web Desk: A military helicopter of the Iranian Armed Forces crashed in a fruit market in the central province of Isfahan, killing the pilot, co-pilot, and two civilians, according to local reports. The incident occurred in Dorcheh city, and the helicopter caught fire before rescue teams managed to control it.
Aviation experts note that Iran has a poor air safety record, with frequent accidents attributed to the use of aircraft purchased before the 1979 Islamic Revolution and shortages of original spare parts for maintenance.
This follows a recent incident last week when a U.S.-made F-4 fighter jet of the Iranian Air Force crashed in the western province of Hamadan during a training flight, killing one pilot. In May 2024, a helicopter carrying then-President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials crashed during a landing attempt in mountainous terrain due to poor weather conditions.
Officials have launched an investigation into the latest crash.
