Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly prepared a “Plan B” that could aim at removing Iran’s current government if limited military strikes fail to force Tehran back to negotiations, according to a report by The New York Times.
The report said Trump’s “Plan A” involves targeted, limited strikes on Iranian facilities to pressure Tehran into accepting U.S. demands, particularly regarding its nuclear program. However, if Iran refuses to show flexibility, the administration may consider launching a broader military campaign aimed at destabilizing the country’s political leadership.
According to sources familiar with internal discussions, the expanded operation could target Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s power structure, military command-and-control centers, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), ballistic missile sites, and nuclear infrastructure.
The report added that a large-scale military operation could be considered later this year if diplomatic efforts fail to deliver results.
The developments come as another round of U.S.-Iran talks is expected in Geneva, while Washington is also increasing its military presence in the Middle East, raising speculation about preparations for possible military action.
