Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistani authorities launched a large-scale joint crackdown against illegally residing Afghan nationals in Islamabad and several other cities during the holy month of Ramadan, with more than 2,000 security personnel deployed, officials said.
According to authorities, police, Pakistan Rangers, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and intelligence agencies conducted coordinated search and combing operations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Security around mosques was also tightened during the operations.
Officials said the state’s authority would be further strengthened and individuals residing legally in Pakistan would not face any harassment. The operations aim to identify and take action against undocumented residents while maintaining law and order.
In Jhelum’s Dina area, joint teams searched 25 houses, checked 62 individuals, and conducted detailed profiling of 18 residents during a late-night operation. In Islamabad’s Tarnol area, dozens of locations were inspected, while simultaneous search operations were carried out at five locations in Attock.
In Chakwal, authorities searched 47 houses, shops, and vehicles, checking documents of 98 individuals, with female police officers also participating in the operation. Surveillance was also intensified in Murree during Ramadan.
Security agencies said the search and combing operations will continue to ensure public safety and curb illegal activities.
