Colombo, Sri Lanka – Web Desk: Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza has issued a warning to his team following their historic group-stage win against Australia in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, emphasizing that any mistakes now could undermine their earlier successes.
Zimbabwe played its first two matches in Colombo before moving to Pallekele for the final two games of the group stage. The team is scheduled to face Ireland on the same pitch where Sri Lanka and Australia will clash.
During a pre-match briefing on Monday, Raza highlighted the importance of selection decisions and adapting to the challenges posed by pitch conditions, ground elevation, and ball movement. He noted that final team combinations were carefully tested over the past 18 months, with multiple iterations trialed to find the most effective lineup for these conditions. “Once we identified the combination we believed would succeed, we have stuck with it for the last nine months,” Raza said.
The captain’s remarks underline Zimbabwe’s commitment to maintaining momentum after delivering one of the tournament’s earliest upsets.
