LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Government of Punjab has released Rs20 billion in funds to support deserving families under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” housing program, following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The funds aim to continue the construction of homes for eligible families across the province. According to official sources, over 1.21 lakh families have already received interest-free loans to build their homes. The latest release of funds will allow more than 26,000 families to receive immediate installments for ongoing construction projects.
Currently, more than 43,000 houses are under construction across Punjab under the program, with total expenditures exceeding Rs172 billion to date. The program has implemented a streamlined, transparent loan disbursement process to ensure that financial aid reaches the most deserving beneficiaries efficiently.
Officials reported that more than Rs6 billion has been successfully recovered so far, and over 1.12 lakh families have already received second installments to complete home construction. The provincial government aims to construct 500,000 houses over the next five years under the initiative.
A spokesperson highlighted that the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program has benefitted a large number of families, providing them with safe and permanent housing solutions. The scheme is part of the provincial government’s broader social welfare agenda to improve living conditions for underprivileged communities.
With the recent release of funds, construction and loan disbursement activities are expected to accelerate, ensuring that more families move into their new homes soon. The program continues to emphasize transparency, efficiency, and equitable access to financial assistance for housing.
Analysts note that such initiatives not only address the housing shortage in Punjab but also stimulate local employment through construction activities, creating socio-economic benefits across urban and rural areas.
