Parliament to Convene on Feb 2 as Key Legislative Session Looms

Islamabad, Pakistan | Web Desk: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has formally summoned sessions of both the Senate and the National Assembly on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Parliament House, exercising his constitutional authority.

According to official notification, the National Assembly session will commence at 5:00 PM, marking the 24th session of the current National Assembly. The session has been convened under Article 54(1) of the Constitution of Pakistan, which empowers the President to summon parliamentary sittings.

Earlier the same day, the Senate session has been scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM at the Parliament House, also under the same constitutional provision.

The summoning of both houses signals a crucial phase in the country’s legislative and political process, with key national matters expected to come under discussion during the sittings.
