Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui says demands for Karachi’s federal control aren’t unconstitutional
Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Federal Minister for Education and MQM Pakistan Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has stated that calling for Karachi to come under federal administration is not unconstitutional. Speaking at an event at NED University under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, Siddiqui challenged critics saying, “If demanding federal oversight is treason, remove that clause from the Constitution.”
Addressing questions about the Gul Plaza investigation report, Siddiqui noted that neither his party nor the Sindh government is satisfied with the findings. He also highlighted issues in university administration, mentioning that funds have been allocated twice but bureaucratic delays persist.
Siddiqui praised the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme for empowering youth in Karachi and across Sindh, emphasizing the importance of technology for academic excellence. Around 16,000 laptops will be distributed to students from 33 universities, including NED University, Sindh University Jamshoro, and Jinnah Medical University, ahead of a major distribution ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid next month.
Senior leaders from PML and HEC officials also lauded the initiative, calling it a significant step in empowering youth and advancing education in Sindh.
