Shocking Utrecht incident sparks outrage as video of police assault goes viral
Utrecht, Netherlands – Web Desk: A disturbing video has gone viral showing Dutch police officers violently assaulting two veiled Muslim women near Hoog Catharijne Shopping Center in Utrecht. The incident reportedly occurred on a busy Monday afternoon near the city’s central railway station.
According to reports, the women were attacked after leaving a shopping mall. One woman attempted to film the assault, prompting a police officer to kick her, causing her to fall. The second woman rushed to help, but officers reportedly struck her with a baton. A man who tried to intervene was also assaulted and handcuffed by police.
Local media reports indicate the officer allegedly told the women, “You do not belong in this country,” which can be heard in the viral footage. Both women have filed complaints through their lawyer, Anis Boumanjal. Shockingly, authorities have also filed counter-complaints against the women for allegedly disrespecting police and refusing to cooperate.
The incident has ignited national and international outrage, raising serious concerns about police conduct, Islamophobia, and the treatment of minority communities in the Netherlands.
