Karachi project uses Anti-Mortem Data & Proof of Presence to return 12 victims to families

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: In a historic first for the country, the remains of 12 victims of the tragic Gul Plaza fire have been identified using cutting-edge forensic technology. The identification project, led by Aamir Hasan, employed Anti-Mortem Data, Proof of Presence, mobile location tracking, and post-mortem analysis to match remains with families.

Previously, 39 victims have been identified: 20 via DNA, 12 through Anti-Mortem & Proof of Presence, 6 through facial recognition, and 1 through ID verification. The latest identifications have allowed families to perform proper burial rituals, providing closure after the devastating incident.

This innovative approach marks a milestone in Pakistan’s forensic and humanitarian efforts, setting a precedent for future disaster victim identification.
