RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Security in Rawalpindi has been tightened ahead of a scheduled meeting of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan with his family and lawyers on Tuesday, with authorities ordering the closure of markets and educational institutions in areas surrounding Adiala Jail.
Police have instructed traders in Gorakhpur Bazaar to keep their shops closed tomorrow, citing concerns over the law and order situation. All private educational institutions in and around Gorakhpur will also remain shut for the day.
According to police sources, more than eight security checkpoints will be established at various locations along Gorakhpur, Daigal Naka, the Chakri Interchange and Adiala Road.
A heavy police contingent is expected to be deployed across the area, and all vehicles travelling on Adiala Road will undergo strict checking as part of enhanced security measures.
Officials say the steps are being taken to maintain public safety and ensure smooth security arrangements during the PTI founder’s scheduled appearance.
