PTI’s Crying Won’t Work, Jail Politics Was Their Own Creation: Maryam Nawaz

Date:

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Wednesday that PTI’s complaints will not help them, as the tradition of sending opponents to jail was established by PTI itself.

Addressing newly elected members of the assembly at a ceremony in Lahore, she accused PTI of hypocrisy in the recent Punjab by-elections. “If they lose, they claim boycott; if they win, they say they succeeded despite boycott,” she remarked.

Maryam Nawaz pointed out that while PTI often criticizes hereditary politics, its own leaders’ relatives contested elections. She said the public no longer falls for PTI’s narrative, which is why people have stopped attending their rallies.

She described PTI’s four years in power as the worst in history, marked by corruption of politics, personal vendettas, and the jailing of opponents. “You created this tradition a few years ago. If you cry about it today, no one will listen,” she added.

The Chief Minister further said PTI’s politics revolved around indecency, abusive language, and disrespecting women, but the recent elections proved that their politics has come to an end.

Maryam Nawaz concluded by saying that those who tried to end Nawaz Sharif’s politics have themselves been erased from history. “We did not inherit abuse and indecency; we inherited service to the people,” she asserted.
